Alia Qureshi, MSc, MD, FACS, FRCSC

Dr. Alia Qureshi is an Associate Professor of surgery at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). Dr. Qureshi’s clinical focus is gastroesophageal surgery. She is passionate about her funded research into how Barrett’s esophagus progresses into esophageal adenocarcinoma. Dr. Qureshi attended medical school at the University of Toronto and also did her surgical residency training at the same institution. Dr. Qureshi completed a minimally invasive surgery fellowship in foregut oncology at Swedish Medial Center in Seattle. Before her current position and OHSU, she was an attending surgeon at Harvard Medical School for more than 7 years as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. While in Boston, Dr. Qureshi established the inaugural DEI committee at Beth Israel Lahey and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Qureshi holds multiple national leadership posts as Chair and member of the SAGES Board and Co-Chair of SSAT committees. She is also a founding member of the Women’s Leadership in Surgery Society and Faculty on Annual Women in Surgery Conference. She is the recipient of multiple awards from national surgical societies including the DeMeester Traveling fellowship for which she will travel to Memorial Sloan Kettering in 2024 to work with internationally recognized faculty in the arena of Foregut surgery.

In her Personal Life, Dr. Qureshi has a dedicated and loving family that she shares with her husband and 3 beautiful children, Max, Zoe and Xavier. Her family is her pride and joy. Outside of her family, her passions include her patients and her Peloton!
