Ashley Moore, MD

Dr. Ashley J Mooney MD graduated with magna cum laude honors at the University of Georgia in 2006. She attended medical school at Mercer University in 2011 where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Her medical career continued in general surgery, completing residency at Wake Forest University in 2016. She continued training in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at the University of South Florida, joining faculty as Assistant Professor upon completion in 2017. She is the only female bariatric surgeon in the state of Florida to complete more than 1,000 robotic surgeries and reached a significant milestone for the TGH+USF Robotic Center of Excellence, recently performing their 10,000th case. Her robust clinical practice focuses on metabolic health and weight loss surgery, highlighting complex revisions, transplantation, and adolescent bariatric care. She serves as Vice Chair of Quality for the USF Department of Surgery with a special interest in AI that prioritizes predictive analytics to achieve the quadruple aim. She is a leader for women in surgery and active society member in SRC SAGES, SSAT, ASMBS, WIS, AWS, and ACS. She is passionately driven to equalize access to healthcare, higher education, and compensation by dissolving socioeconomic and gender disparities worldwide.
