Mary Maniscalco-Theberge, MD, FACS

“Dr Mary” Maniscalco-Theberge is a general surgeon, subspecialty trained in Trauma Critical Care. She practiced in the US Army retiring as a Colonel and the Chief of Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She then worked for the Department of Veteran Affairs in the Office of the Medical Inspector, retiring as the Medical Inspector. Veterans Health Administration. She is a Clinical Professor of Surgery and former Assistant Chair, Department of Surgery, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Over her career she has been active participant in many medical associations to include the American College of Surgeon, Association of Women Surgeons, Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and Association of Breast Surgeons. She served as President of both the ACS Metropolitan Washington Chapter and AWS Metropolitan Chapter.

She is currently active with the Association of Women Surgeons Clinical Practice Committee and their Coaching Program. She enjoys her growing family (grandchildren), traveling (climbing mountains—Kilimanjaro and Machu Pichhu) and learning new skills.
