Dr. Rahila Essani loves working with her hands and the immediate gratification of helping patients overcome the surgical process. She loves providing the most up-to-date proficient care, with smaller incisions, faster recovery, and finding new ways to expedite seamless recovery from even the most major surgeries. Dr. Essani’s primary goal is to get patients from diagnosis to healthy living with the smoothest transition possible.

Shared decision-making with patients is extremely important to Dr. Essani. She believes in being there for her patients at every step of the way, providing the best surgical outcomes. Because the medical process can feel so complicated at times, it’s imperative to Dr. Essani that patients are on the same page with her by empowering them with the knowledge they need to know about their diagnosis, the type of surgery recommended, and the recovery process. This enables her to establish the trust needed to care for them to the best of her ability.

Dr. Essani is a highly accomplished and specialized colon and rectal surgeon with a unique distinction of being triple fellowship trained. With extensive expertise in her field, she has completed three fellowships to enhance her skills and knowledge.

Dr. Essani began her medical journey by completing her general surgery training at the renowned University of Rochester, NY. Following this, she pursued an advanced fellowship in rectal cancer management, focusing on the latest advancements in treating complex cases. Building upon her expertise, she then pursued a dedicated colorectal fellowship to further refine her skills in the field of colorectal surgery.
Notably, Dr. Essani’s extensive training and dedication have also led her to become proficient in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic techniques. As a national leader in robotic surgery, she utilizes state-of-the-art technology to provide patients with the most advanced and precise surgical options.
