Sara Fuentes is a Pediatric Surgeon currently working at Mútua de Terrassa University Hospital, Terrassa, Barcelona. She obtained her degree in Medicine at the Autónoma University of Madrid and completed her surgical training at 12 de Octubre University Hospital, Madrid. She has been visiting-fellow at prestigious institutions in Europe such as Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome and Necker-Les Enfants Malades in Paris. She completed her PhD studies in Surgery at Computense University of Madrid and obtained her Master’s Degree in Pediatric Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at Bologna University. She is committed with the principle that in order to provide the best patient/family-centered surgical care, all health-professionals have to work as a team and include education and research in everyday practice. She contributes to the surgical education program for pediatricians and nurses and promotes research and quality improvement initiatives in different areas, such as pathophysiological impact of pediatric MIS, minimizing stress in the pediatric surgical patient and implementation of new technologies in clinical practice. She is a member of the Spanish and European Pediatric Surgery Associations, Fellow of the European Board of Pediatric Surgery and International Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
