Simone Betchen, MD, MBA

Simone Betchen currently serves as the inaugural Chief of Neuroscience at UHS in Binghamton, NY overseeing neurosurgery, neurology, pain management, neuro interventional, and non-operative spine. Before this, she was a practicing neurosurgeon in Brooklyn, NY at Maimonides Medical Center for 17 years.

Dr. Betchen is published in multiple areas with most recent publications looking at grit in surgeons by gender, correlation of hospital outcomes based on gender of c-suite make-up, and outcomes on craniotomy for tumors in patients based on race.

Dr. Betchen is currently the treasurer of the Association of Women Surgeons. In the past she has held positions on the Awards and Grants, and Member Services Committee.

She holds M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, an M.D. from Johns Hopkins school of medicine, and a B.A. in Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania.
